Trieste is brought to you by husband and wife duo Kate & Barry O’Donovan. When it comes to hospitality it runs through this pair’s veins. Trieste is an italian cafe and wine bar which opened on Valentine’s day of 2020. What better way to spend a romantic date than this place. Its cosy relaxed ambience gives the perfect compliment to a glass of their many wines in stock and selection of caricature boards of Italian goodness.

Aniar
Aniar is a Michelen Star restaurant located in Galway’s Westend. Aniar is the brainchild of JP MacMahon and has won several awards throughout its time. If you’re looking to impress and beyond look no further. JP brings a collective of wild and foraged ingredients to the table creating exquisite food. Its surroundings are contemporary yet relaxed too. JP’s aim is to ‘look back in order to look forward’ using traditional methods of cooking such as curing, pickling, smoking and fermenting.

Éan
Éan is brought to you by the Loam restaurant so you know you’re in good hands. If your date this year is Vegan then this is probably the best place for you to go. By night it is a wine bar and restaurant and is located in Druids Lane so you won’t be far from all the action The Latin Quarter has to offer. They specialise in natural, biodynamic and organic wines. For dinner they offer a selection of small and large sharing plates perfect for date night. For the vegetarian they offer specials like ‘Leaf and Root tomatoes’, ‘charred greens’ and ‘New season potatoes’.

McSwiggan’s
Located in Woodquay, McSwiggans has seen a bit of a makeover in the last few years but has kept its traditional family-run spirit. The biggest change is their philosophy on food, they make ‘delicious food’ keeping it ‘honest, simple and local’. If your other half is into Steak or Seafood this is probably the venue for you. They offer local favourites such as Oysters and Sirloin Steak. They source their fish daily and from local coasts and their steak is cooked 350 degrees in a charcoal josper oven.

Kai
Kai offers organic European dishes served in a bright setting with colourful chairs and rustic wooden tables. Kai is a Michelin Bib Gourmand Restaurant and their menus change all the time. Their philosophy is ‘Honest, Local Ingredients’ which Galway has an abundance of. Originally a flower shop, Kai has turned this into a social foodie and wine hub in the midst of Galway’s Westend. They serve Lunch from 12 to 3 and dinner from 6.15. For Date Night you can expect the best seasonal ingredients cooked intelligently.
